Sugar can also affect the body’s pH balance, creating an excess acidity which is conducive to all types of disease. Too much sugar can cause the pancreas to work overtime to produce insulin in an effort to normalize blood sugar levels. When the pancreas overreacts in this way and floods the bloodstream with insulin, blood sugar levels drop too low and the condition called hypoglycemia occurs, leaving you feeling worn out and tired. Over time the pancreas can lose its ability to properly produce insulin, which may lead to diabetes.
Sugar also can cause and aggravate pain, as detailed in the story about my friend T.D. Dr. Ronald Lawrence, former president of the American Medical Athletic Association, made the following observation in Joe Weider's Relieving Pain Nutritionally: Simple sugars, primarily white sugar but even honey, can sharpen the pain from injuries. “I first learned this with arthritics,” said Lawrence, who practices in Agoura, California. “The more sugar in the diet, the more pain. You take them off sugar and the pain diminishes. The same holds true for athletic injuries. I tell all my arthritics and injured athletes to cut out the sugar.” Lawrence says sugar interferes with calcium’s role in electrochemical transmission, causing nerves to become “more irritable.” In my own experience, an increase in sugar from candy causes pain in my hip and feet.
In addition to the health risks associated with sugar, it's also a source of concentrated calories. By simply cutting out sugar, a 200-pound average American, who would otherwise consume his weight in sugar, could subtract 339,750 calories per year from his diet!

Now that you understand the contaminating magnetism of white sugar, let’s turn to what has become known as the "other" sugar:
