Fundamental to contemporary quantum theory is the notion that there is no phenomenon until it is observed. The implications of the observer effect are profound because, if true, it means that before anything can manifest in the physical universe, it must first be observed. Presumably, observation cannot occur without the pre-existence of some sort of consciousness to do the observing. The observer effect clearly implies that the physical universe is the direct result of “consciousness.”
Taking this into consideration, I would lean toward the idea that it is our thoughts, triggered by the written word, that actually cause the effect on the water.
Whether it’s our thoughts or the images of the words themselves, it’s hard to deny that something is manifesting in the water when we look at Dr. Emoto’s research. As an experiment, I taped two kanji characters on my saltwater aquarium, one for “pure/clear” and another for “peaceful.” The results were absolutely amazing.
Anyone who has kept a saltwater aquarium knows that it is not an easy hobby. The aquarium is a miniature ocean. You must keep the water in perfect balance for the fish to remain healthy. You have to change the water regularly and not exceed the proper balance of inches of fish to gallons of water. Otherwise, harmful levels of toxic chemicals such as ammonia and nitrates will build up.
In my tank I kept a fish called an undulating trigger. Anyone who knows saltwater fish knows that the undulating trigger is the most aggressive fish in an aquarium. It will attack almost any other fish dropped in the tank. My children appropriately named him Trigger. Trigger had eaten every other fish we added, except two spotted damselfish that were almost equally aggressive. At one point we
observing an electron will change its path. It can happen because the observing light or radiation contains enough energy to disturb it, but it can also happen if no measurement is made and if only it becomes possible to make such a measurement.
